Changes and Improvements

2017 Per-Fit Windows Cup Competitions

We are pleased to confirm the changes and improvements to the Per-Fit Windows Cup competitions for the 2017 season.

As in 2016 our primary competition will be the Derek Kay 1st XI Cup sponsored by Per-Fit Windows but in 2017 this will be contested by just 32 teams, taken from the 1st XI teams playing in the Premier League and Division 1 with the top 7 from Division 2 at the end of 2016 plus new club Hindley St Peters CC who are also in the 2017 Lancashire KO competition.

To add to this, we will have a new competition - the Per-Fit Windows 1st XI Cup to be contested by the other 1st XIs, the remaining teams from Division 2 and those playing in Divisions 3, 4 and 5, a total of 22 clubs.

We received many suggestions from players and officials after last season, all with great suggestions for change. Some we could not manage but creating this new competition allows us to pull some of these ideas together. By introducing this new competition, we can -

·         Reduce the number of Sunday games for some 1st XIs

·         Free up grounds on some Sundays to help the Sunday Competition

·         Avoid mis-matches across the wide range of 1st XI abilities in our competition

·         Play later in the season to lessen chances of early rounds bowl outs

·         Improve the whole GMCL competition for the lower league teams

·         Give more clubs the chance of a good cup run and a final

·         Give more clubs a realistic chance for a trophy

The Per-Fit Windows 2nd XI Cup will remain in place for all our Saturday 2nd XIs and the 3rd XI Cup will become the Per-Fit Windows Sunday Cup and be contested by all the teams that play on the Sunday that apply as well as the 3rd XIs from the Saturday competition.

The Dates for the Cup competitions are as follows: -
